Decorating a Small House

Decorating your house could be both fun and tricky. How you transform your house to a warm sweet home is dependent on how you manage to decorate it the right way, not only for you, but to your family as well. It’s given that a bigger house would require more decorations compared to a smaller house where you would need to minimize the amount of decorations to maintain a spacious house. But I prefer living in a small house with few decorations and having half of my problem solved.

There are a lot of ways in decorating your small house with less expense, costs and decorations. This would be very challenging especially when you have other people living under the same roof and giving their opinion on what should be placed here and there. It would be better not to buy the decorations before hand unless you are sure that it would be of good use. Here are some ideas on how to decorate your small house:

• You can buy a home decoration book or ask a professional interior designer on how to properly decorate without taking up too much space.
• Buy pieces of multi-purpose furniture such as multi-shelved bookcase that has horizontal doors that can open up into a study table. You can also have a bed that can be folded up when morning comes.
• Color coordination is even more important than in a bigger house. Use light or neutral colors to your wall, floor, ceiling, or even to some of your furniture. Go for the color cream, or taupe since light colors give a more spacious atmosphere while dark colors give you constricted space.
• Remove and replace the interior doors with curtains to create more space and add appeal as well.
• Choose furniture that would be useful to create a cool and elegant look inside your house such as lampshades and bookcases.
• To avoid occupying space as you start living in your new home, you would need to put all your songs or videos into your computer or hard disk to avoid piling up those CDs. Try to keep all wires hidden or go wireless if possible.
