Responsible Lending - SAVE HOME

An extension of the City of Chicago's predatory lending ordinance, the SAVE HOME public education initiative and referral line (1-866-SAVE HOME) helps homeowners avoid predatory lending practices. This program educates Chicago's homeowners about the risks of dealing with unscrupulous predatory lenders.

This program prevents or minimizes the negative impacts of predatory lending through education, counseling and intervention services. These services are often provided through contracts with various community-based agencies. Callers will be referred to agencies that can help them. Calls are answered by operators at the City's 311 call center, and returned by DOH staff who will make an appropriate referral.
