How To Get An Affordable House - Effective Haggling Tips

Finding a cheap property and getting it with the price you want is something you’d have to work on using your negotiation or haggling skills.  You should know how to get the best affordable house available.

With agents and property managers on the lookout for sales commission, they are also keen on having closed deals. It is called a deal because that’s what basically it is – a deal, which means you are a part of a deal, you have a say on how the whole transaction will push through. And hopefully it favors the price and budget you are eyeing.

With a few handy tips, be confident that you’d be able to haggle for a more favorable price.

• Research. By showing your agent that you know what you’re talking about (even if you don’t) when it comes to real estate and the market, it will show that you really are a buyer, and not just a looker. With this, you can go through the entire deal swiftly. Even talking about trends will make you come off as an informed buyer, and an informed buyer is more often than not, a serious buyer.

• Start on the right foot. Early on, you’d want your agent to be on your side, and not ‘dislike’ you for whatever reason. Friendly gestures and sincere smiles can go a long way. Remember, you’re there to negotiate, not intimidate.

• Talk first, haggle later. Start out with a ‘good relationship’. Do not rush into getting what you want, we’ll get to that a little later. A few ‘light’ conversations can start the ball rolling and later on, you can direct the conversation to the direction you want – a haggled price for the property.

• Do not talk much about numbers. And never let your agent know about the maximum budget you can give.

• Talk freebies. It’s always best if you can get some extra stuff in your entire deal. Just browse through the store first and see which ones (make them the more inexpensive ones though) you could ask as a freebie or items to be included in your purchase, not pay an extra. A few accessories (not the expensive ones which will flash a red light in your agents head) will probably be the things your agent will let go if you make him feel that it will seal the deal.

Remember that properties are investments, and as with other investments, you get them low, and they’ll be worth higher in the future. Getting to haggle is not just a means of saving dollars, but it also shows that you can be a pro in business dealings. And if you are a pro, or a good customer, lasting business relationship will soon follow - and the agent would probably show you other cheap properties you can use your effective haggling skills with.

At times, most sales agent are equipped to handle haggling customers but at the same time, even dealers themselves are willing to be haggled as long as a closed deal is reached. With today’s economic situation, businesses understand what customer wants, and sometimes, you just have to simply ask for it.
