State's Housing market Declines
New statistics were reported for the Alabama housing market in today's Tuscaloosa News. Overall for the state the number of sales declined 24 percent in the second quarter of 2008 as compared to the second quarter of 2007. Based on the statistics we gathered from the Gulf Coast MLS and Baldwin County Association of Realtors MLS, there was a decline in the 2 southern counties of Alabama as well. However, the decline was not to the level we saw for the whole state. In Mobile County we saw a decrease of 16 percent in sales for the same period. The median sales price of home in Mobile decrease 1.29% in the second quarter of 2008. In Baldwin County, sales decrease by 20% and median sales price decreased 5.92%
