1. Checklist of Things to do after you move in
There are still lots of things to do before relaxing. You can relax a bit if you had made in advance a list of the things inside all those boxes. The list would really help you organize when unpacking. You will know what contains in the number or color-coded box. You will need to double check the number of boxes that arrived and if any of your items have been damaged or broken.

2. Organize your Unpacking
Time is what you really need when you would do your unpacking. Unpack all the stuff one room at a time. Begin your essential items like clothes, bed, pillow, blankets, to the kitchen and living room items. Don’t forget to check your list on what box to bring and unpack in a particular room.

3. Arrange Furniture
When you get to your new house, most furniture does not need to be unpacked like the couch or cabinets though you might still lack some furniture and still need to buy them. But there is still the problem of determining where to put the furniture and how to occupy the spaces. You would need to ask your partner or kids to assist you on locating the best place to put the couch and other furniture.

4. Help Children Settle into Their New Home
The kids would need the help of their parents since they themselves still do not know how to arrange the furniture in their room or where to put them. Unpack first the kids’ room and help them feel as comfortable as possible. They would first unpack their toys and essentials at the very least which they can do so by themselves. You would also need to take your kids a tour around the house. Then you can go back to your routine in settling other things in the house.

5. Help Pets to Settle In
If you have brought your pet with you to your new home, then this would cause a bit of commotion around the house. Though dogs adjust easier than cats do, they still need special care, a proper introduction of the house and teach them their new routine. Don’t blame your pet for peeing or doing unnecessary stuff around your new house. They just want to go home. You have to teach them on how to be comfortable and appreciate your new home.

6. Get to Know the Neighborhood
The typical way to get to know your neighbors is to walk around and knock on the door bringing something for them. With the help of a little research on how to go around the neighbor and who lives where, you and your family would be just fine. Walk around the city or town to know where the grocery store, school or any recreation center is. You just have to bring that map guide with you so that you would know where you are or when you went too far.

All the lists are not as fun and exciting as it would be, but you’ll make it through. Just keep in mind the things you need to do. Be patient and good luck! - Global Real Estate Guide
